UDAR Manager Boot Camp
May 12 - 13, 2022
Rachel Humphrey
University Development and Alumni Relations is seeking a leadership journey to equip both UDAR fundraising leaders and senior fundraising officers across campus with an updated toolbox to lead, communicate and collaborate more effectively. The UDAR Manager Bootcamp program also signals a sign of investment in senior staff with a goal of retaining fundraising leaders. Faculty Director, Homa Bahrami will guide participants through the 2-day on-campus bootcamp and incorporate additional Berkeley Haas faculty under the frames of Leading Self and Leading Others. In preparation for the bootcamp, leaders will take both a 360 diagnostic on their leadership styles and a separate individual assessment on their instinctive approach to leading in times of constant change. Post on-campus learning extends to teach-back moments in participant’s regularly scheduled monthly team meetings. An office-hours with Faculty Director, Homa Bahrami to distill tools being actively utilized, feedback from teach-backs and answer participants questions round out the learning journey.
Program Objectives:
• Signal professional investment in senior fundraising leaders across campus including UDAR to be used as a retention strategy
• Provide not just a ”moment in time” leadership program but a leadership journey for participants
• Assess one’s leadership styles and adaptive skill-sets including areas of strength and areas for growth
• Tune-up participants’ leadership toolbox to ensure day-to-day communication, mentorship and leadership balances fundraising officers’ focus on tactical execution with one another and their teams
• Provide a safe, professional space to collaborate and practice techniques to tackle difficult conversations and constructive debates
• Strengthen individuals’ storytelling skills through communications excellence techniques as well as participants’ influence without authority to
collaborate more effectively
• Enhance participants’ abilities to build trust-based relationships to minimize tension and foster solutions-oriented thinking through problem solving collaboratively
• Ensure tools are being actively utilized and learnings are sticky through teach back moments
